The SAPISSVC process is associated with the Core Scanning Server service- which is responsible for the scanning feature.

SAPISSVC is only for the on-demand scan, so it shouldn't be running continually on the system. The real-time (Virus Protection) process is called ONLINENT and this would be running all the time.

 

In the latest EPS Console this is no longer a problem because the problem with the file has been fixed.

 

Therefore the easiest fix would be upgrading.

 

However, there are possible fixes for the older versions ( not guaranteed to work) they are as follows:

 

 Stop and Restart the Agent Server and Client Agent services on the Console system (or simply reboot the machine) and see if the process utilization goes back down.
